Spring Has Sprung Makeup

So as soon as the warmer weather hits, not only do I feel the need to update my wardrobe, but also my makeup. In the winter my skin tends to act up so I feel the need for more coverage. Once the temperature gets warmer, it's like my skin instantly awakens and I go for a more dewy glow look. On my spring makeup list:

15 Minute Fish

On days where my body needs to eat a healthy dinner and I either have no time, or am just too tired, I buy a small piece of fish (tonight I bought a piece of sea bass), dice a small tomato and cut up a shallot. I lay all of this on a piece to tin foil, sprinkle with pepper and a dash of olive oil. Then I simply fold the foil into a pouch and pop in the over at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes.

Max-ing Out in Maxi's

One of my favorite spring/summer fashion looks are maxi dresses. Easy to throw on, comfortable, chic, stylish and so much fun to accessorize. The weather is getting warmer and it's getting my excited to update my spring closet and include some of these pieces.

The Book Report

Currently reading Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer.

Next on my list:

It Feels Like Home

A year I moved into my apartment on the UES of the city. Since college, I've gotten into this rut of not putting enough effort into making my apartments feel homey. I supposed it's the idea of thinking that it's a temporary space, so why bother. Well I've decided enough is enough and it's time to make my apartment feel like my home. Below are images, items, colors, patterns that I'm using as a source of inspiration.

1. I love everything about this room. The pink with white molding, the table and LOVE the mix of patterns.

2. House Beautiful's current pink issue is amazingly gorgeous. These walls are so unapologetically pink!

3. Urban Outfitters Slipper Chair - Turquoise Ikat $329
4. I'm not usually one for abstract art, or at least I didn't think I was. I came across Sally Benedict's painting while flipping through a magazine and her work changed my mind. There's something about the colors and paint strokes that is both energetic and calming at the same time.

5. There's something very adult to me about having a small bar ready and waiting to entertain. I want one!

It's All In The Wrist

Lately, my obsession with bracelets has reached an all time high. I love accessorizing an outfit with a stack of bracelets and feel instantly put together. For me, my fashion tastes range from preppy chic to a little edgy. I love the juxtaposition of matching a "punky" bracelet with a girly, frilly outfit and vice versa.

Here are a few picks I would love to add to my growing collection.
All In the Wrist

1. Amrita Singh Adreena Bangle Set in White Gold $100
2. Jennifer Zeuner Closed Eye Sapphire Bracelet $162
3. Hermes  Balcons du Guadalquivir $520
4. Cara Accessories Leather and Stud Adjustable Bracelet $38
5. Delia's Savina Tonal Bracelet 4-Pack $12.50
6. Ann Taylor Evening Star Stretch Bracelet $40

Dry Winter Skin Fix

My entire life I've had incredibly sensitive skin. While I have been lucky enough to never really have a problem with breakouts, I have always had issues with dry winter skin. No matter what moisturizer I've used, a few seconds after I apply, my skin still feels dry and chapped. Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream and Aquaphor products solve that problem and are my winter must-haves. Both are pretty thick, so I've found applying right before bed is the best time to use. In the morning you wake up with soft, moisturized skin.

Wardrobe Rut

Recently I've been in a wardrobe rut and desperately need to snap myself out of it, so I've started putting together a few inspirational outfits.

Everything NYC Has To Offer

While I live and work in NYC, I do not take full advantage of everything the city has to offer. This spring I plan to change all that and make a list of activities/excursions I would like to do. I'm sure this list will grow longer as I start to think of more things.

  1. Visit the Museum of Natural History (I haven't been since I was in grammar school)
  2. Visit Coney Island
  3. Walk over the Brooklyn Bridge
  4. Visit NYC/Brooklyn Flea Markets
  5. Eat dim sum in Chinatown
  6. Pottery painting
  7. Central Park Zoo
  8. Explore the shops in the Garment District
